Our project  will provide an opportunity to 20 volunteers who have undergone a taking care of elder course to spend their times on Saturday or Sunday or any free time to visit an abandoned elder community for 3 months. Volunteers will provide a primary medical checkup to evaluate risk of being sick and give some proper advices. In addition, they also give health care trips for an elder to relatives and caretakers.

ประโยชน์ของโครงการ :

  • 219 elders receive primary medical treatment and necessary things.
  • Relatives and caretakers understand how to take care of an elder.
  • Hill tribe kids lacking an opportunity in education receive a scholarship from Buddy HomeCare and can engage to society.

กิจกรรมที่จะดำเนินโครงการ :

20 volunteers will visit the area in 3 months.

1.Provide primary medical checkup to abandoned elders such as measuring weight, blood pressure, height, BMI, heart rate, and cholesterol.
2.Visit elders and provide primary medical checkup to them for protecting any disease in the future such as goiter, throat, aneurysm (vein), torticollis - which could cause to a respiratory tract disease - cataract, diabetes, jaundice, and conjunctivitis. In addition, primary health protection is also the best way for health care.

* FOPDEV has experiences over ten years in training a volunteer for taking care of an elder in Mueang Chiang Mai.  A volunteer had visited an elder to help with a little thing, but we realized that our primary training was not enough to deal with all the problems. Therefore, we need to upgrade our program and add more necessary skills to volunteers by visiting an elder community to understand the problems and plan in the future.
