Given the critical situation of the Thai elephant, Traveler's MAP and Play Planet  initiated both an online fundraising project in 2011 and organized various eco-tourism events for Korean tourists who wished to acquaint themselves with the lives of Thai elephants and to better understand the dramatic predicament these creatures currently face.

Traveler's MAP and Play Planet’s fundraising activities in Korea, conducted with the help of a widespread media campaign, managed to not only raise nearly 5 million Won (approximately 4,400 USD) from nearly 7,000 Koreans supporters, but also to raise considerable awareness for the profound plight of the Thai elephant.

The funds raised by Traveler's MAP and Play Planet will support the elephant treatment clinic of the organization “Friends of the Asian Elephant” (FAE) in Lampang, Thailand. The FAE facility, one of the most active of its kind in Thailand, has contributed immensely to the crisis at hand by treating, and thus alleviating the plight of, close to 4,000 Thai elephants since 1993. This critically important facility currently operates at an annual cost of THB 10 million (ca. 316,000 USD).

Now, Traveler's MAP and Play Planet would like to expand its fundraising activities for this crucial project by inviting the global community to join in its efforts to protect the precious Thai elephant from exploitation and, ultimately, extinction.
