As the flood situation in the southern region of Thailand has severely damaged four provinces Narathiwat, Pattani, Songkhla and Phatthalung, we would like to ask you to help villagers who have been affected, especially in Narathiwat.
Mouhammuad Habayei, the director of Islamic Institute, Fatoni University, said: “the latest information that we got from our staff on 25 December 13 amphoes, 77 districts, 556 villages, 61 communities, 57,021 families, and 206,695 people in Narathiwat have been affected. In addition, 25 houses were completely damaged, 805 houses were partly damaged (5,206 people), 155 roads were damaged, and 77 schools have been closed.
“Recently, there was a heavy rain on 22 December 57 at 20.00 PM, and a big wave in the sea and the level of the sea was every high which affected people to evacuate to sub-district administrative organization Coak Cone. Meanwhile, villagers who work as a fisherman producing wudu water had to evacuate to a new community and have not had any income yet.
“In Takbai, most of villagers grow palm, Pará rubber tree and rice. Sadly, right now those areas have been like a pond because of flood on 19 December. Even thought water has reduced 1 meter after six days, it is still in an urgent level.
“What we need urgently are a school uniform, apparel, educational equipment, consumer products, and other policies to help homeless people and provide necessary things for a damaged house.”
