We are Volunteer English Bangkok " VEB : Freevolunteer.net "
www.facebook.com/free.volunteer.thailand
This project has started for 5 years by myself , Mr. Winyoo Srisupachok.
The main objective of our project is to “Bridge the Gap” of students in Bangkok government schools who have less opportunities to learn English from native or skillful English teachers due to their low budget capacity.
I am now working as General Manager of Bansabai Hostel, Lad Prao , Bangkok and also have my own business in a Tourism industry, Thus, I do understand about Volunteer Tourism, meaning volunteers will travel and do social voluntary projects at the same time by paying to a volunteer agency. This really confuses me and creates a big question in my mind “ Why the Volunteer have to pay much money for volunteering? ”
This above question drives me to start this project.
Even my English is not perfect, I can communicate.
Even I do not have budget, I have opportunities.
So I started the project by using this below model:
“Special Discounted Room Rate for anyone who becomes our volunteers to our student at local schools”
And
“We only want to fulfill English lessons with fun”
The feedbacks after we started this project have been very good :)
All parties loved our idea, The teacher loved, The Volunteer loved and especially the students loved it. And then I expanded this idea to my hometown “Bang Pa In, Ayutthaya” , Karnchanaburi with Chukpee School , Kao Yai Area with matchboxes group , Thong Tos Foundation at Bangkok Noi
Even thought we have limited time and budge, the result was very encouraging and created many positive impacts.
I have initiated this idea to become a reality. And now I want to make it even more sustainable.
Make our project extension will be more complicated.
Assist our volunteer teachers to have good materials and make it more standardized.
Let our students have their own textbooks or can borrow it home.
Thus, I want to make a fundraising campaign for that plan.
I hope to receive your generous and courteous donations to buy English vocabulary picture books and drawing books with equipment to our adorable students.
Please feel free to contact me for further possibilities :)

- First, I believe that students who learn in small local government schools in Bangkok and come from a blue collar family have more problems than students who learn outside Bangkok due to the Bangkok living cost. Because I want easily handle this prohect, I select schools close my office area, “Klong Song Kra Tium School” as First Contact! I got a great response from my first call. Vice director “Dacha” and Director “Nitaya” of the school welcomed my idea.
- I asked my boss to use a room for a volunteer who want to work for the school. And he said yes.
- I believed when we brought our students in class and gave them confidence and happiness, things would be easier. The students opened their minds to learn English more. In addition, I also managed our teaching style to be like “Casual conversation class.”
- After running this project around 2 years, we got the feedbacks from children, teacher, and volunteer whether or not our teaching was right. Mr. Patrick Nicolazi, an Australian Volunteer told me that he met his student on the bus. The boy came to him and introduced her mom to him in English. Usually the Thai are very shy to speak English particularly in public. They mostly said only “Hello”, but this boy did it fantastically. I am very happy about that and want to do more widely.
- The “Happy class” is the must. I started an official orientation class for all volunteers and introduced them that you had to make the class to be fun. Even thought you could not make it fun, you needed to cheer up your students to feel as English was not hard by using all simple things around your body or classroom as main materials to communicate to the students by KISS idea such as teaching them vocabulary by drawing the picture.
- In 2013, Kylie, our Australian volunteer, dedicated herself to revise and manage our Facebook page. Erik and Gerald also helped to create our website.
- Also we got new Thai partners and volunteers dedicating themself to help us to expand our project to other provinces. Some Thai partners gave their accommodations for volunteers to stay for free. Some Thai partners cooked food for volunteers for free.

“Start to develop to be good system” for continuous improvement and sustainable system
so we want teaching material to assisted our volunteer teachers.
