A Happy Hospital project, the Mirror Foundation, is aimed at increasing happiness and decreasing suffering of sick kids and other people involved with a hospital as a volunteer because sick kids have to be monitored by a doctor, nurse, and other staff members in a hospital. In addition, sick kids are mentally affected, stressful, and lonely because they do not live with their parents.
Volunteering works in a hospital of this project will create a new environment and activity for sick people - as basically anyone who has been in the same environment in an extended period is likely to have less motivation. New people will create new environments and will bring more motivation to a hospital, making it become a place for people to participate as a volunteer rather than just only provide medical services.
With these reasons, we want to create more activities to increase happiness and decrease suffering of sick kids in a hospital such as an ICT activity for kids to learn with technology, skill and development activity, art activity, musical activity, friendship activity, and other activities in special occasions such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and New Year’s Day.
Especially, in an activity in a New Year’s Day festival, we all celebrate and send happiness to someone we love such as a family, relatives, siblings, and friends to say goodbye to an old year and welcome a new year to come. However, the sick kids staying in a hospital do not have much opportunity to do that. With this reason, this project plans to create an activity for giving New Year’s Day gifts to sick kids to enjoy the festival of happiness by gathering gifts, toys, food, drink, and other things as parts of delivering happiness, morale, wishes, very important to sick kids to fight against all the illness.
