The hospital has determination to uses the same standard of medical treatments for 67,687 patients.
Nowadays, the hospital is open for 5 groups: Golden Card (25,099), social security (1,542), civil servant (1,312), persons without status (5,352), and persons without health care (34,382), which approximately cost 10-12 million Baht.
But you know what, the hospital cannot reimburse any medical treatments from any fund for persons without a health care such as stateless people and legal and illegal Burmese labors because they do not have any evidence in civil registration.
Today, the hospital lacks a lot of medicines and other medical supply, especially in winter. Most of their patients suffer form a respiratory disease, especially asthma, which requires many Nasal Inhaler medicines for treatment. Therefore, Umphang Hospital is collaborating with Taejai on fundraising to buy medicines and other medical supply.
Medicine is like a never-ending story. As long as suffering still exists and budget allocation depends on fairness in terms of mathematics per capita, which is completely opposite to the fact, people without status born in Umphang will not get any health protection.
In addition to law amendment, what we can do in the future for these people is collaborating with a pharmaceutical company to donate medicines to patients.
Villagers waited to undergo medical treatments.
Doctors provided physical examination for villagers in remote areas.
Patients who did not have a health care.
Mrs.Chichapo Pakarkeryor people (Karen), 48, is a person having been waiting for personal registration, as she does not have any status. She was born in Burma and came to Dan Peng Kleng, Mae Jan district, Thailand when she was 17. Today, she lives in a Suksamakkee House, Umphang.
She started having medical treatments at the Umphang Hospital in 2552. A doctor found that she had suffered form Anemia and gave medicine to her. In 2553, a doctor finally diagnosed her and found that she suffered from a kidney disease in the last stage and suggested to undergo dialysis to get rid of waste from her body. Unfortunately, her medical expense is not covered by any fund. And because her condition did not get better after receiving medicine from the doctor, she was sent to a medical specialist at a kidney unit, Mae-Sod Hospital to filter her blood through her abdominal cavity regularly. Today, her neck is pricked for blood filtering by hemodialysis-HD, which she has to commute 2-3 times a week to undergo 4-5 hours treatment.
Financial Status: Umphang Hospital is responsible for the expenses. And medicine from donation is also not enough.
