The children need to eat every day, 3 times a day for their physical and mental development, but the research has discovered that:
- The Ministry of Education has addressed that there are 5,800,469 students from kindergarten to grade 6th level with malnutrition and are not provided with free lunch.
- The government has allocated the budget only for lunches for students in kindergartens and elementary schools at 20 Baht per head, while some students are taken care of by the schools and need 3 meals per day. There has been an attempt to solve this problem but so far none has succeeded. Today, the representatives from Teach for Thailand, Foundation for Child Development, and
www.inspiring.org have teamed up to create a campaign 'Cultivation for Life, for Income' as an initiative for a sustainable solution. This include organic farming and raising fish and chicken in schools to provide the nutritious food for the students while allocating a part of the produce to sell in exchange of revenue to buy new seeds, fries and hens in the future. If the income is sufficient, the teachers will use this budget to pay for students' stipends, their travel cost, or to purchase school supplies.
This is why we would like to invite you to help us develop these organic farms in their schools, so the students will not have to go hungry again.
*The fund raised through Taejai.com will be used to construct fish ponds, chicken houses and mushroom cultivation sheds as well as purchasing mushroom blocks, fries, hens and chicken feed for the following 4 schools:
