The surrounding area of Pa Bong, in the Sangklaburi district of Kanchanaburi province, is located in the outlying territory of the Kong Mong Ta community before entering the western zone of Thung Yai Naresuan forest.

ที่มา/ความสำคัญโครงการ :

According to the Seub Nakhasathien Foundation, the active ranger patrolling of the Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary’s western region, and the forests and wildlife within the surrounding area of Pa Bong, reduces the risk of criminal activity in the area.

It is due to the fact that this forest has plentiful wildlife and is a route for local and newcomer hunters traveling by boat via Run Tee river and on foot from Kao Laem Son National Park for animal hunting. On December 6, 2011 the advisory commission of Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary held a joint adjudication and agreed to establish the Pa Bong interception post to prevent the illegal capitalizing on forest and wildlife resources of surrounding communities and to protect all threats on the sanctuary’s frontier, as well as limiting effects that might has caused from the tourism capitalizing on Kao Laem National Park.

Although since May, 2012 there are four forest rangers stationed there, they have no accommodations or office. They have only their own temporary encampment.

Seub Nakhasathien Foundation has cooperated with the authorities on western region of Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary to request support in the construction of facilities. Pan Fiber Cement Plc. has partly provided the necessary materials but we are still in the shortage of structural materials preventing us from proceeding with the facilities construction as planned. We therefore organized the supporting project for the Pa Bong Intercepting Post facilities construction to enhance the performance of natural resources protection.

Objectives:

1.To enhance the maximum performance of Pa Bong Interception Post as the guardian of forest and wildlife resources in the area.

2.To improve the morale and living conditions of stationed rangers.

3.To create sustainable joint protection of the western region forest.

ประโยชน์ของโครงการ :

1.Enable the maximum performance in protecting the forest and wildlife resources in the area and provide accommodation for stationed and patrol rangers.

2.Improving the morale and living condition of the rangers.

3.Create the sustainable in joint protection of the western region forest.

Provide the Pa Bong Interception Post with an office facility made of steel structure, flooring and roof-tiles.
