Yongsit Yongkamol, a Master Degree student at the College of Music, Mahidol University found that most people with visual impairment who played music memorized how to play them. They were not able to study the theory aspect in depth and in the practical section, they might lose an opportunity to learn the details, which in music terms, could make a big difference. And even though they memorized the notes, there were not capable of analyzing and would forget the notes after some period of time.
Braille Note sheets
Yongsit then aspired that persons with visual impairment should have equal rights and access to music studies; therefore, he got the idea to develop a website that provides Braille music note sheets. This website will help those with visual impairment to access the note sheets and friendly to Asian usage.
Play keyboards using the Braille Note Sheets
1. Persons with visual impairment will get a chance to access music studies
2. Persons with visual impairment will have Braille note sheets to use.
3. Persons with visual impairment will be able to understand the meaning, rhythm and the details of the note sheets that similar to others musician
4. Persons with visual impairment are more capable to read, write and analyzed the music sheet
5. Persons with visual impairment in Thailand and other countries will have access to good equipment tools.
1. Find volunteers to print the notes which will be done by the mentorship of a professor from the College of Music, Mahidol University in using the Goodfeel Program to transform note sheets to a Braille version.
( Volunteers will get 20 baht/page)
2. Reach the target groups by starting with the groups of persons with visual impairment in Bangkok, Salaya, Putthamonton, and Nakornpathom
3. Developing the ASEAN music website for persons with visual impairment in 3languages --Thai, English, and Mandarin.
4. Upload the song lists on the website so the persons with visual impairment could make an order
(If the project does not have enough financial support, the user might have to pay for the printing of their own sheets, which is around 10 baht/page)
5. Users could order Braille note sheets by sending the original note sheets to the website host by email or post. The volunteers will then transform it into a Braille note sheets and send it back to user.
(If the project does not have enough financial support, the user might have to pay for the notes to be transformed and printed out for about 30 baht per page: Transforming into a Braille note sheet costs 20 baht and 10 baht for the printing and sending cost).

1. Yongsit Yongkamol (Nill), a Masters Degree student at the College of Music, Mahidol University started to study music at the age 12 years, after realizing that he really like the sound of the saxophone. He participated in many contests since then and in the year 2005, he had the chance to join the 14th Saxophone Congress, a world class Saxophone event in Slovenia, where he got a chance to know many saxophone players and discovered the new music genre for saxophone playing.
In 2011, Yongit got the gold medal for solo performance at the 14th SETTRADE Youth Music of Thailand. Earlier this year, he was a special guest for the Music Festival held for visually impaired peoples in the Disability Asia- Pacific 11th event. He also got the VSA International young soloists award program and was invited to play at John F. Kennedy Center.
