A life style of a Karen kid at Mae Hong Klang village, Amphoe Omkoi, Chiang Mai, is likely to concern about money more than education. 10-13 years old kids tend to quit school to help their families in farming.
In the end, they could not continue their education, and some kids quit school in a mid of semester. In a harvesting season of mango and longan (June – August), grown kids need to go to other area for working and help their families. Some of them go to work in Chiang Mai without completing compulsory education. They are just literate. This is a continuous life cycle at Mae Hong Klang village, where people do not complete a primary school level.

4DekDoi was created to give young people an opportunity to do social activities and learn about life styles of Karen people. A volunteer joining this project could teach Thai language to hill tribe kids and support a human development activity to understand the world in the 21st century and have a better life.
That is the starting point of a scholarship project to take hill tribe kids, age 8-10, more 80 kilometers to study at Ban Leung School, Yang Pieng, Omkoi, under the Office of the Basic Education Commission, Educational Service Chiang Mai Area Office 5.
