Donations for the project will will help create a solar-powered prototype boat, bringing sustain to bringing sustainable transportation1Chanae community.
The Waves of Love solar-powered boat project was created as a prototype for harnessing solar energy, demonstrating a practical use of renewable energy. It helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions caused by daily fuel consumption and provides livelihood opportunities for the local community. This initiative aligns with the Chanae Sustainable Strategy, a plan developed collaboratively by local residents and relevant agencies to guide the community toward long-term sustainable development.
Chanae District, Songkhla Province, has been designated by the government as a target area for the development of a model city for the advanced future industry. The project covers Na Thap, Taling Chan, and Sakom subdistricts, totaling 16,752 rai, and allocates land for six types of industries, including 4,000 rai for the electricity energy sector (Suebnakhasathien, 2020). If this project proceeds, it is expected to generate at least five types of pollution, affecting both the physical and mental health of residents, as well as impacting livelihoods such as fishing, raising Javanese pigeons, and agriculture.
In response, we have come together to create the Waves of Love solar-powered boat project as a community prototype.
This solar-powered boat—the first of its kind in the community—is driven entirely by solar energy and is operated by community members themselves. It serves as a “tourism enterprise” that connects local wisdom, lifestyle, natural resources, and the community to promote sustainable and resilient tourism.
The project aims to develop the community by utilizing the potential of existing local resources for maximum benefit, fostering harmonious relationships between humans and nature for sustainable coexistence. Revenue generated from tourism is returned to the community to create genuine benefits.
Through the “Sea Children” activities, the project communicates the values, identity, local culture, and way of life of the community to visitors.
Fundraising for the Waves of Love solar-powered boat promotes a practical use of renewable energy, driven entirely by community members. The project fosters learning and understanding of the community’s way of life and culture for visitors, while also distributing income generated from community-based tourism.
Once the funding is received, it will be used to install the solar panels and complete other components of the boat, including safety systems and all related operations.
Trial trips will be organized and promoted through the Wave of Love Solar-Powered Boat page, allowing the community to practice and test hosting tourists and managing tour trips. Afterward, operations will be reviewed and improved based on the experience.
Promotion will continue through the Wave of Love Solar-Powered Boat page to welcome visitors.
Tourists will then be invited to experience sailing on the Waves of Love solar-powered boat.
