"If we believe in humanity and human rights, which are fundamental to public health work, we cannot discriminate against refugees who are mostly poor. Today, many organizations have cut their budgets for helping this group entirely. Therefore, Taejai is collaborating with Umphang Hospital to support food expenses for patients and volunteers at the Nu Po Refugee Camp Field Hospital."

Social issues

"humanitys and human rights are fundamental to public health work. This field is based on the ethical principle of helping those in need without discrimination. Most refugees are poor, so medical treatment should not be tied to expenses. They should receive care according to the same standards as the general public, as these are the foundations of a good public health system," Dr. Worawit Tantiwattanasap stated in an interview with https://theactive.thaipbs.or.th/news/publichealth-20250129.

Additionally, we help prevent epidemics that could spread to the Thai population. If border hospitals don't control outbreaks from the beginning, it could lead to multiple deaths, as diseases don't discriminate based on ethnicity or nationality.

Taejai knows that "Nu Po Refugee Camp" in Tak province, with approximately 8,000 refugees under Umphang Hospital's care, is being impacted by IRC's sudden termination of operations.

Approaches to addressing issues

  1. Taejai and Umphang Hospital Foundation have discussed the urgent need to help patients and volunteers who provide care, identifying food supply as a critical issue for these groups. Information from Dr. Worawit Tantiwattanasap Let me know if you'd like me to clarify any part of the translation or provide additional context about the situation.

Operational Plan
