Doctor Support for Mae La Refugee Camp

International aid reductions have led to cuts in local health staff at Mae La camp, making it increasingly difficult to maintain basic healthcare services. Without sufficient medical officers, treatment for critical cases and emergency responses were severely delayed.

Since April 2026, IV-Thailand has dispatched one medical doctor to work alongside the local medical team. Since then, he has become central to both patient care and clinic management in Mae La Camp. Every month, the clinic received a high volume of outpatient consultations and inpatient admissions. In June alone, there were 5,594 outpatient and 330 inpatient cases. To keep up with this demand, the doctor optimizes clinic workflows, manages manual patient monitoring, and trains local health staff. 

If funding stops and the doctor is withdrawn, the clinic will face severe workload overcapacity once again, putting emergency care and overall medical quality at serious risk.
