Survivors of gender-based violence face significant barriers when seeking justice. Those from marginalized groups, who are most affected by inequality and discrimination, often encounter additional challenges such as language barriers and financial hardships. These obstacles become even more pronounced throughout the judicial process.
To address these issues, this fund was established to support SHero's team of trained pro bono lawyers and interdisciplinary volunteers. The team provides legal and psychological assistance to survivors through both online platforms and on-site support, ensuring help is available even in the most challenging cases.
Social issues
SHero, initiated in 2016, aims to support individuals who have experienced domestic violence, facing challenges in seeking help from the state and engaging in the justice process. This initiative emerged from personal experiences and obstacles encountered in seeking assistance. SHero started in 2016 by survivors who transitioned from abusive relationships and faced numerous challenges in seeking help from the government. The project not only provides legal support to survivors but also works towards developing a knowledge base for academic and policy changes to address gaps in the justice system. Through crowdfunding, SHero aims to enhance legal support for survivors and contribute to academic and policy changes, bridging gaps in the justice system.
Approaches to addressing issues
Legal consultations are provided through SHero Thailand's Line Official Account for individuals who have experienced domestic and gender-based violence. The platform aims to assist a minimum of 200 cases per year, offering legal protection, welfare, and healing in accordance with legal rights. Additionally, a social support team is available to provide emotional support and basic psychological care.
The legal assistance provided includes handling a minimum of 15 cases per year, addressing challenges such as prolonged domestic violence, cases involving economically disadvantaged victims, and those with significant barriers to accessing the justice system. This encompasses cases of sexual misconduct perpetrated by individuals in positions of power.
Developing the system to enhance assistance involves strengthening and sustaining a network of volunteer experts. This includes collecting data on the challenges faced in each case to drive policy and procedural changes, fostering a continuous improvement process.
Operational Plan
Establish a dedicated team, including case coordinators, legal professionals, and volunteer lawyers, for continuous and systematic assistance.
Collaborate with relevant organizations and agencies to provide survivor-centered support for each victim.
Execute legal procedures, assisting from complaint reporting to court processes.
Gather and analyze data to advocate for policy and procedural changes, ensuring a survivor-centered approach throughout.

บุษยาภา ศรีสมพงษ์ (เบสท์) ทนายความด้านความรุนแรงด้วยเหตุแห่งเพศและผู้ก่อตั้งขององค์กรชีโร่ (SHero Thailand) เพื่อการขจัดความรุนแรงด้วยเหตุแพ่งเพศในประเทศไทย เบสท์เป็นผู้นำภาคีเพื่อความยุติธรรมทางเพศ (Gender Justice Network) ซึ่งประกอบด้วยทนายความอาสาและผู้จัดการกรณีที่ให้ความช่วยเหลือทางกฎหมายให้กับผู้เสียหายจากความรุนแรงด้วยเหตุแพ่งเพศ (Survivors of Gender-Based Violence) นอกจากนี้ยังมีโครงการเสริมองค์ความรู้และศักยภาพให้กับกลุ่มเยาวชนและนักปฏิบัติงานด้านความรุนแรง ฯ งานให้ความช่วยเหลือกฎหมายของ SHero นำไปสู่การผลักด้านเชิงนโยบายเพื่อลดข้อท้าทายในการเข้าถึงกระบวนการยุติธรรมของผู้เสียหาย ตลอดจนทำให้เกิดนโยบาย กระบวนการและวิธีการทำงานที่ให้ผู้ใช้บริการเป็นศูนย์กลางที่คำนึงถึงสวัสดิภาพและความปลอดภัยของผู้เสียหาย (Survivor-Centred Approach) นถึงปัจจุบัน SHero ได้สร้างความตระหนักรู้ให้กับเยาวชนกว่า 3000 คน สร้างสมาชิกภาคีกว่า 40 คนเพื่อสนับสนุนในการแก้ไขปัญหาความรุนแรงด้วยเหตุแห่งเพศและช่วยเหลือปกป้องสิทธิผู้เสียหายจากความรุนแรง ฯ โดย SHero ได้ให้ความช่วยเหลือผู้เสียหายไปแล้วกว่า 300 คนนับแต่ได้มีการริเริ่มเมื่อปี 2016 ปัจจุบัน องค์กรมีพื้นที่ยุทธศาสตร์ ณ ชายแดนไทย-พม่า ทำงานกับกลุ่มประชากรชายขอบและเข้าใจลึกซึ้งข้อท้าทายเชิงโครงที่กดทับผู้เสียหายอย่างเป็นระบบ นอกจากนี้บุษยาภายังทำงานเป็นผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านงานคุ้มครองเด็ก องค์กรSave the Children Thailand เน้นการคุ้มครองเด็กเด็กในสถานการณ์ฉุกเฉิน เช่น สถานการณ์สู้รบ ลี้ภัยและการเคลื่อนย้ายถิ่น และเป็นที่ปรึกษาให้กับองค์การสหประชาชาติ บุษยาภาจบปริญญาโทด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนและการเมืองระหว่างประเทศจากมหาวิทยาลัยกลาสโกว์ สหราชอาณาจักร ในฐานะนักศึกษาทุน Chevening ก่อนหน้านั้นบุษยาภาเป็นที่ปรึกษาให้กับองค์การระหว่างประเทศเพื่อการโยกย้ายถิ่น (IOM UN Migration Unit) และสถาบันเพื่อการยุติธรรมแห่งประเทศไทย ในปี 2021 เบสท์ได้รับรางวัล Women of the Future Awards Southeast Asia (Professional Category) ซึ่งเป็นผู้ชนะคนแรกจากประเทศไทยในรางวัลดังกล่าว เนื่องจากข้อท้าทายด้านงบประมาณ SHero ยังคงขับเคลื่อนด้วยอาสาสมัครสหวิชาชีพและปัจจุบันยังคงต้องปิดรับเคสเพิ่มจนกว่าเราจะระดมทุนได้สำเร็จ เพื่อการสนับสนุนผู้เสียหายอย่างมีคุณภาพและยังยืน
