To provide eye examinations and donate eyeglasses to underprivileged and disadvantaged elderly people aged 60 and over in the community.
Social issues
For the elderly, poor eyesight and blurred vision pose obstacles and risks in daily life. Eyeglasses are essential for self-reliance in daily activities, such as reading medication labels, handling objects, navigating obstacles, climbing stairs, and crossing the street. However, a large number of poor and disadvantaged elderly people cannot afford eyeglasses or have broken/outdated ones, leading to difficulties and safety risks in their lives.
Approaches to addressing issues
The project, "Eld-Glasses for Older," aims to provide assistance by visiting communities to conduct eye examinations and donate eyeglasses to underprivileged and disadvantaged elderly people aged 60 and over, primarily through 69 public health service centers in Bangkok
This will help them improve their vision, become more self-reliant, reduce daily risks, and ultimately lead to a better quality of life.
