Urgent: Hat Yai Flood Crisis

The urgent flood situation in Hat Yai is critical. iCare has already deployed teams to Hat Yai to deliver relief bags and set up a mobile kitchen. During the recovery phase, we are also in the process of procuring school uniforms and learning supplies to be sent to the children in the area.

For this project, earlier in 2025, aid was provided to Nan, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai. Last month, this included Ang Thong, Sing Buri, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, and Mae Hong Son.

We, therefore, invite kind-hearted donors to contribute funds for purchasing relief bags—consisting of rice, dried food, and clean drinking water—to be delivered to over 2,500 affected families, or no less than 10,000 people, in the directly impacted areas.

The Impact of Widespread Flooding in Thailand

The continuous heavy rainfall across the country since the beginning of the year, coupled with the influence of a typhoon that moved towards Thailand in 2025, has resulted in widespread flooding, affecting multiple provinces in the Northern, Central, and Southern regions.

Resulting Impacts

  • Prolonged flooding for over one month in many areas.
  • A large number of residential homes were severely damaged.
  • Agricultural areas were submerged, causing extensive damage.
  • Public utilities, such as roads, electricity, and water supply systems, were affected and rendered unusable.
  • A large number of people lack basic necessities for daily life, including:
    • Rice and dried food
    • Clean drinking water
    • Essential daily necessities

Urgent Needs

  • The affected areas require assistance as quickly as possible in terms of food, drinking water, and essential items to alleviate suffering and restore the livelihoods of the people to normal as soon as possible.
  • For this purpose, we maintain a rapid response team prepared throughout the year to provide urgent aid.

Approaches to addressing issues

  1. To survey areas in various provinces to assess the needs of each locality.

  2. To collectively pack relief bags, consisting of rice, dried food, and clean drinking water.

  3. To transport relief bags and drinking water to areas near the flood-affected zones.

  4. To mobilize efforts for transporting relief bags and clean drinking water to areas of urgent need and repairing damaged sections.

  5. To monitor the situation to verify the needs of the disaster victims.

  6. If the situation has not concluded and villagers still require assistance, we will continuously deliver relief bags and clean drinking water according to their appropriate needs.

Operational Plan

  1. Teams were deployed to survey flood-affected areas in the Central provinces, including Ang Thong, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, as well as in Northern areas such as Mae Hong Son, Nan, and Chiang Rai, to assess the situation and the essential needs of the people in each location.

  2. We collectively packed relief bags, consisting of rice, dried food, and clean drinking water.

  3. We transported the relief bags and drinking water to areas near the flood-affected zones.

  4. We mobilized efforts to transport relief bags and clean drinking water to areas of urgent need, and a portion of the funds will be used to repair damaged sections.

  5. We are monitoring the situation to verify the needs of the disaster victims."
