Donations for the project will be provided as scholarship to upper secondary school or vocational school students250persons
The issue of financial scarcity can prevent good-performing and well-behaved students from continuing their education, forcing them to drop out of school to work in unstable jobs to support their families. This led to the creation of this scholarship program to provide a scholarship worth 5,000 baht per person per year to students who excel academically but lack financial resources to pursue secondary education or vocational education (Vocational Certificate) in Thailand.
The eligibility criteria include:
· Being a student who had completed Grade 9. He or she should be from a low-income family and wishes to continue in secondary education or vocational education (Vocational Certificate).
· Being a student currently studying at the secondary school level or in vocational education who lacks financial support.
· Having good academic performance with a GPA of 3.00 or higher.
· Displaying good behavior.
· Not being a child of civil servants, state enterprise employees or local government employees.
The scholarships will help alleviate the financial burden of students and their families. Scholarship covers costs of transportation to and from school or college, as well as educational expenses not covered by the government education support policy.
For students from impoverished families, daily life is often fraught with difficulties. Many must endure hunger or help their parents earn extra income on weekends to make ends meet, leaving them little time to focus on studying. Despite these challenges, many children are able to turn their hardships into motivation to excel academically.
The EDF Foundation recognizes that the lack of financial support is a primary issue preventing these students from continuing their education, even though they perform well and behave appropriately. The EDF Foundation has been providing scholarships to secondary and vocational students based on their academic performance since 2010, and to date, it has supported 8,285 deserving students. Since its founding in 1987, the EDF Foundation had provided more than 414,285 scholarships to underprivileged students around Thailand under various categories.
For the upcoming academic year 2025, the EDF Foundation anticipates that there will be at least 1,000 underprivileged but good-performing students needing educational assistance and opportunities to further their knowledge, preparing them for higher education or vocational training to secure better futures. This will empower them to shape their own destinies and help lift their families out of the cycle of poverty.
1. Provide scholarships to students who excel academically but lack financial resources to continue their education at the secondary level or in vocational education (Vocational Certificate).
2. Schools with students receiving scholarships from the EDF Foundation will have a designated teacher responsible for overseeing the scholarship program. This teacher will manage the students' bank accounts and supervise the withdrawal of scholarship funds to maximize the benefits for the students' education.
The EDF Foundation will close accepting donations for scholarships for the 2025 academic year on June 30, 2025 and then verify the qualifications and enrollment of students applying for scholarships.
Funds will be transferred to students who meet the selection criteria. Once students received the scholarship funds in their accounts, project supervisors from each school will send a copy of the bank deposit slip back to the foundation as proof of the transaction.
The EDF Foundation will submit a report on the students who received scholarships to the donors.
