Every day, countless compassionate people walk past sick or injured stray dogs and cats, desperately wishing they could help. However, the painful reality of "prohibitive medical bills" forces them to weigh their desire to save a life against their financial constraints. This creates a heartbreaking gap where helpless animals are left to suffer simply due to a lack of emergency medical funding. How does the Care 4 Strays Fund help?
The Care 4 Strays Fund has partnered with VetVille Pet Hospitals to ease the financial burden of medical care for stray dogs and cats:
- Good Samaritans pay only half: Anyone who brings a stray dog or cat for treatment at VetVille Pet Hospitals pays just 50% of the medical cost (up to a maximum of 5,000 THB).
- The fund covers the rest: All remaining expenses are covered by the Care 4 Strays Fund.

Real-Life Case Study: The Story of "Nong Som"
In June 2026, "Nong Som," a 7-month-old stray cat from Plum Village (Pak Chong District), was severely injured after being attacked by a pack of large dogs, suffering deep wounds to her lower body, both hind legs, and tail.
A compassionate nun stepped in to save her life. However, to keep Nong Som alive, she had to struggle through urgent fundraising efforts from kind strangers just to raise the THB 10,500 needed for emergency surgery and initial care.
After receiving emergency treatment at a clinic in Pak Chong and being cared for by the nun at Plum Village, Nong Athit and his family stepped up to foster Nong Som temporarily. They transferred her for comprehensive care at VetVille Pet Hospital in Bangkok, where she received blood tests, a full set of vaccinations, and continuous wound treatment.
Two weeks have passed...
Today, Nong Som is in great health, and over 95% of her wounds have healed. In just a few weeks, she will be ready to find a loving forever home. Her total medical expenses is estimated to be approximately THB 30,000–35,000.
How does our fund make a difference?
While Nong Som's story has a happy ending, it highlights a major issue: Why should good Samaritans have to scramble through high-stress emergency fundraising while a critically injured animal waits for care?
Our partnership with VetVille Pet Hospital ensures that other stray dogs and cats receive immediate, high-quality treatment without life-threatening delays caused by financial obstacles.
Approaches to addressing issues
1. Co-Payment Scheme: Care 4 Strays Fund will help co-pay for medical treatment of stray dogs and cats. Anyone who brings in stray animals for medical treatment at any of the Vetville Pet Hospitals will only pay 50% or up to THB 5,000 of medical bill, while Care 4 Strays pay the balance.
2. Forecasted Impact: Based on data from interviews with veterinarian, we estimate that 10% to 15% of incoming strays cases will require high-cost, major surgeries (around THB 30,000/case), while the remaining 85% will present mild-to-moderate care needs (around THB 5,000/case). With a projected monthly budget of THB 60,000, our Care 4 Strays Fund should be able to directly support around 10 stray animal cases/month at VetVille Animal Hospital. This budget is strategically balanced to absorb 1 critical emergencies each month while still providing vaccinations, minor treatments, and routine care for 8 to 10 other animals.
3. Partnership with Vetville Pet Hospital: Unlike general stray funds, our direct partnership with VetVille Animal Hospital ensures immediate, streamlined medical attention without administrative delays. Vetville Animal Hospital will provide up to 20% discount of treatment costs. All 5 locations of Vetville Pet Hospital group will participate in this program (e.g. Rama 3, Baromaratchachonani, Ratchapruek, Rangsit, and Wang Hin).

Operational Plan
Vetville Pet Hospital to start offering Care 4 Strays Co-payment fund for anyone who bring in stray animals.
Fund will be managed by the veterinarian team at Vetville Pet Hospital.
Care 4 Strays team to receive update of all qualified cases to use the co-payment fund.
Care 4 Strays team to receive medical treatment update and photo of each case.
We will encourage the person who brings in the strays to adopt the animal. If they are unable to do so, we will help find a new home through social media.
Care 4 Strays fund will be available for all 5 locations of Vetville Pet Hospital group (e.g. Rama 3, Baromaratchachonani, Ratchapruek, Rangsit, and Wang Hin).

Athit and his friends are a group of Year 8 students at King's College International School Bangkok who share a deep connection with animals. With a growing number of injured and sick stray animals who have no one to care for them, we decided to take action. Recognizing that the biggest hurdle for animal shelters and street-venerators is the crushing cost of veterinary medicine, Athit and his friends sparked the idea to create a dedicated medical relief fund. Care 4 Strays Project This initiative marks our very first venture into community fundraising. Alongside a small, dedicated group of his closest friends, he is organizing a series of grassroots initiatives—ranging from spreading the words in school and online social media campaign. As the project lead, Athit manages the group’s weekly meetings, coordinates with local veterinary hospitals to understand their urgent needs, and ensures that the money raised goes directly toward medication, vaccinations, and life-saving treatments. "We might just be a small group of friends, but we believe that every stray animal deserves a second chance at a healthy life. No animal should suffer simply because they don't have an owner."
