Donations for the project will help provide free dental treatment to more than 80% of children in remote areas, benefiting2,400individuals.
"Contribute to the Mobile Dental Unit Project to provide free dental screening and treatment for 2,400 underprivileged children in remote areas nationwide."
"For over eight years, the Mobile Dental Unit and its partners have driven essential aid to desolate regions across the country, from the northernmost to the southernmost provinces. Continuing this mission, the project aims to deliver services and bright smiles to children, having already provided dental check-ups and treatment to over 43,000 individuals. This effort ensures equitable access to dental services and promotes sustainable oral health."
"Over 80% of children in remote areas suffer from oral health issues and lack access to essential dental services. The impact of dental decay is profound, affecting both general and oral health. Symptoms like toothache and difficulty chewing often lead to insufficient nutrient intake, which hinders their physical growth and development. Furthermore, dental pain affects sleep and concentration, negatively impacting the overall quality of life, and potentially impeding a child's physical, emotional, and cognitive development."
Project Initiative:
"The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Thailand Foundation and the Thai Red Cross Children’s Home Foundation, along with their partners, have been operating the Mobile Dental Unit under the project 'Good Health Under the Royal Grace' (สุขภาพดีใต้ร่มพระบารมี) since 2015. This collaborative effort includes the Royal Thai Armed Forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force), Mahachakri Sirindhorn Dental Hospital (Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University), and the Private Dental Association Foundation of Thailand."
Service Details:
"The Mobile Dental Unit is equipped with one dental chair inside the vehicle and four portable field dental units. Services offered include comprehensive dental examinations, fissure sealants, fillings, extractions, scaling, and fluoride application. The target group is children aged 8 to 18 in remote areas. The unit averages about 8 service trips per year."
Deploy the mobile dental unit twice to provide free dental screening and treatment for underprivileged children in remote areas. (The average cost for dental screening and treatment per child is 900 Baht.)
Preparation of Mobile Unit and Equipment The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Foundation prepares the mobile dental unit, including all necessary dental materials and equipment, to be ready for serving students.
Coordination for Target Schools The Thai Red Cross Children's Home Foundation coordinates with the Provincial Governor, Provincial Public Health Office, and Provincial Education Office to determine the specific schools in each province where students lack access to dental services.
Site Survey and Planning The RMHC Foundation conducts site surveys for the mobile dental unit deployment areas, collaborating with relevant provincial agencies according to the operational plan.
Volunteer and Partner Mobilization Coordinate with relevant government agencies and partners, including volunteer dental assistants from Mahachakri Sirindhorn Dental Hospital (Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University) and volunteer dentists from the Private Dental Association Foundation of Thailand, to staff the mobile service unit at the designated schools according to the schedule.
Service Provision and Education Deploy the unit to provide free dental screening and treatment according to the operational plan. During the event, provincial public health officials also provide knowledge and instruction on dental care to students, aiming for strong and sustainable oral health.
Annual Scheduling and Alignment The RMHC Foundation, in conjunction with the Thai Red Cross Children’s Home Foundation and the Royal Thai Armed Forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force), sets the annual deployment schedule to align it with the integrated operational timetable of the mobile service unit.
