Anyone Can Draw Drawing "A new Life for Persons with Disabilities"

One day, you might be surprised that the comic in your hand is created by a person with a disability. “Anyone Can Draw” encourages disabled people to use their capability and their passion to do creative work and at the same time, to be able to make a living for themselves by training them on how to draw and providing them job-orders. Why is the project specific to people with disability? Because they believe that “Anyone can draw”.

ที่มา/ความสำคัญโครงการ :

From the research by National Statistical Office of Thailand year 2007, there’s 1.87 million of disability people in Thailand, which is a high 2.9 percent of the entire Thai national population.  64.8 percent of people with disability are unemployed because people believe that there are not capable to work and have to rely on social welfare or they face discrimination in salary because of their disability. This problem can be solved by training them to build their skill in an appropriate and focused field of work, and as a consequence, they will be able to take care of themselves and even their family.

Comic drawing does not require much equipment or monetary investment.  It involves the use only creativity and is flexible to where you can work from, which is an ideal environment for disabled people. Anyone Can Draw has many members ranging from cartoonist, animator, and blogger residing in Chiangmai. The idea was initiated in 2011by the founder because of the high number of unemployed disabled people in Chiangmai, and the availability of a network of illustrators that was ready to train the people with disability.  Anyone Can Draw currently is able to generate different kind of media, ie animation, comic book, games for making an understanding between people and disability people. In the future Anyone Can Draw plans to have a studio in Chiangmai, a centre for people with disability who are interested in drawing and want to use their new-learned skill as a profession.
