It all started from one small bump on her ear…
At a very young age, Cha-Em needed CT scan for a proper diagnosis of small cyst on her right ear. That’s when doctors discover a bigger problem from her blood test as the result showed that the number of her white blood cell is 4 times higher than normal person. She was soon diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia which is commonly found in babies aged between 2-3 years old. Children affected with this disease have only 20% chance of survival.
With strong support from her family, Cha-Em made it through such painful process of Chemotherapy, countless of injections and unbearable nights in the Intensive Care Unit. The joy from her victory over the deadly disease has faded when the disease recurred a few years later. Her parents found a growing lump under her chin which was a result of cancer.
At the age of four Cha-Em had to go through painful procedure again, this time with even stronger medicine. It all looked like her body has responded well to the chemotherapy. Years long and painful medical procedure was about to end… until their doctor’s visit in January 2019 turned down their hope. This time doctor suggested that she receive the bone marrow transplant in order to increase the chance of survival. But this of course comes with a big cost.
Because bone marrow transplant is a very complicated process which involve getting the right match for Human Leukocyte Antigen (usually found among family members). This painful experience has taught her family about the importance of blood and stem cell donations. Stem cells were collected from Cha-Em’s parents and her brother but unfortunately there was no match. To help this young girl fight for her life, her family is pleading for your support.
